A Little LWCD Design Inspiration For You: Kate Spade Curiosities Collection
This collection is full of amazing energy. Color, pattern, and texture create the perfect trifecta for inspiration. After a cup of java and a little object tinkering my creative mode was on a roll and delivered what I’ll call a ‘British colonial style + bold color strokes + collected curiosities’ vibe. To help illustrate this I included my friend, Mr. Monkey. Isn’t he cute? I love monkeys. This vibe combines our tropics inspired color palette with warm medium shades of wood, some prized objects, and a coordinating selection of saturated paint colors. (Valspar Paint: Woodlawn Charm 5008-8A and Beach Grass 5008-8B)
In this design concept I’ve included some of the traditional British Colonial style elements like
– woven pieces with natural textures that incorporate rattan, wicker, or cane.
(some products featured are affiliate products)
-bamboo accessories or small furnishings .
-ceiling fixtures with wicker or bamboo. I am really crushing on this light fixture! Faux Bamboo Lighting Pendant.

Picnic Green,Turquoise, Black & Hot Coral
Then I steered it a little off the traditional course. I don’t mind bending and breaking the rules a little to mix things up! Keeps things interesting.
British colonial style typically features endless light walls in creamy shades. But we weren’t going there. Modern twist dictates ‘out with the light walls and in with the rich, sultry, black, but boldly patterned and colored, walls’.
The Kravet OWLISH:BLACK wallpaper from the Kate Spade collection delivers modern style to our design concept. Perfectly infusing our picnic green, turquoise, black, & hot coral, color palette while also giving a nod to the plants and palms that are traditionally a part of the British Colonial design style. This pattern features owls (which are another favorite motif of mine) perched on branches and surrounded by foliage.
Now I’m going to add the sizzle with a few colorful options to bring in some modern design style.
Add Touches Of Color From Our Color Palette With Statement Furniture Pieces Or Lighting Fixtures.
I love anything Taylor Burke and their Don’t Fret Pendant in coral would be a perfect addition to our design.
Ground your space with a statement piece in sizzling hot coral. Ideal for displaying your own collected curiosities or for setting up cocktails at your next party.
Sprinkle coordinating fabrics around the room on stools, upholstery, pillows, or windows to keep the color party going. Cozy this darling X brace side table next to your wicker chair for an added touch of gold and coral. Add a little turquoise to the picture with this lamp that has a natural textured shade.
Kravet Showroom Displays Kate Spade Curiosities Collection
At the High Point market the Kravet showroom was dressed out in this collection. Their application of the collection embraced a cool, modern, NY urban style. Fabrics graced amazing acrylic X-brace benches and sleekly designed sofas and chairs. An eclectic mix of occasional furniture and accessories from the CuratedKravet collection completed the look.
The PICNIC GREEN:BLEEKER wool fabric looked totally divine on the pieces in the showroom and the wool trims from this collection created stunning details on the decorative pillows.
What should I say about this MARBLE SWIRL:MULTI fabric? Well, I guess my affection for a marble pattern is obvious, you see one each time you visit the Living With Color Designs website. A pattern passion that was fueled at the very beginning of my designer journey.
Thanks to Mr. Monkey for helping out and adding a little fun. I can’t resist showing you a few more pics. He is very photogenic.
