Oh my goodness, I am so in love with this sofa that I stumbled upon at Priba Furniture. Such a great nod to ‘fashionable’ furniture. I mean this is like having a sofa that is wearing a fine Chanel jacket.
This beautiful yellow boucle upholstery fabric is just stunning in person. It provides so much texture and dimension. The pillows add the perfect touch of softness and color just like a beautiful floral blouse that you would wear to compliment your jacket. Luxury fabrics are one of the things that sets a Chanel jacket apart from all others. Choosing interesting and unique fabrics for your furniture will set your home apart from others and create that one of a kind luxury statement. This sofa is by Harden Furniture.
Taking cues from fashion is nothing new. I was so in love with the menswear trend in interior design. You saw herringbones, tweeds, fine wools and other suit fabrics in traditional menswear colors showing up everywhere. If you are struggling to choose colors or patterns to use in your home, just dive into your closet for inspiration. Chances are if it flatters and looks good on your body it will do the same on your furniture too.
I got a little sidetracked looking at Chanel jackets after finding this sofa and writing this post. I found this cool video, The Little Black Jacket, documenting the amazing process of hand making a Chanel jacket. I find these things really intriguing so I thought I would share it with you. ‘Fashional’ furniture touches might be just the thing for you to use to create a personal statement in your home. – Marianne

So, I am looking forward to celebrating July 4th tomorrow. One of my favorite things growing up was watching fireworks and using sparklers. I remember one July 4th in particular spent with my family and my cousins. We watched fireworks from the old fort in our nations oldest city, St Augustine, Florida. Another favorite is to listen to the Boston Pops who’s Fireworks Spectacular which has actually been moved up to today. Patriotic music doesn’t get any better than that. Have fun celebrating! – Marianne
I am often asked about what makes a good starting point for designing a room and choosing colors for a room. In many cases it begins with a fabric. The fabric can set the tone and mood of the room and also dictate color selection. I found this fabric the other day when I was checking out the geometrics. I just couldn’t pass up taking a picture. I knew there must be a teen somewhere that would love this fabric and draw some inspiration here. This would be so cute on a bedspread and curtains.
I snapped a few pictures of some things you could pull together to complete the room. All items were found locally. I will put a list at the end of the post. So here goes…
This lime green table is great. Put one on each side of the bed for end tables.
Add a pop of color on those tables with these hot pink lamps.
Add some Flower Power to go with your tie dye with this photography print in just the right colors.
A lime green flower shaped vase to display those spring flowers we are all eager to see growing in our yards.
Every girl likes a little bling and shine. Bring it in with these brightly colored vinyl memo boards.
Organization is a cinch with matching pink totes. You might as well make your storage pretty and have it right there in the open as part of your decorating.
For a little fun and to remind them of that little girl inside pick one of these darling handmade monkeys.
And hang this in her room to remind her every day that she is loved and that beauty and happiness begin on the inside. So nice to see some cute faith based accessories.
Well there it is. Instant teen room. And it all started with a knock out tie dyed fabric.
Look for inspiration in fabrics, pictures, pillows, or other accessories that you love and build from there.
